Design Principles

The following are fundamental principles for the design of Charity Radar

Items or parts of items in italics are yet to be formally agreed.

  • Charity Radar will only be targeting UK Charities and similar organisations
  • The design will allow other UK sectors to be targetted in future
  • International names and addresses will be able to be stored
  • As much as possible, the product will be cost-neutral to the end user. The grants raised and the costs saved will outweigh the cost of the product
  • There will be a series of modules which will be developed in an agreed order. Once the core modules exist, the product will be released to the world
  • The onboarding process will be largely self-service. It will be accompanied by help files and/or videos as necessary

The following terms will be used:

  • Account - an organisation that subscribes to Charity Radar
  • User - an individual who has access to the data and facilities of Charity Radar. A user always belongs to one and only one Account but may have access to administer one or more Accounts
  • Privilege - the access rights a User has for an Account - see users
  • Person - the information stored about a natural person
